Darryl "DV" Valdez

Background & Experience:

Darryl Valdez is a graduate of Central Catholic High School (2005), where he earned All-League honors as a running back during both his junior and senior seasons. He continued his athletic and academic career at the collegiate level, competing as a wide receiver on scholarship at Illinois State University before transferring to Western Oregon University, where he also played on scholarship and earned 2nd Team All-GNAC honors.

Darryl graduated from Western Oregon University with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Sports Leadership.

With over four years of strength and conditioning experience, Darryl has worked with student-athletes across multiple high school programs, including one year at Life Christian Academy, two years at Mercer Island High School, and one year at Puyallup High School.

He currently serves as the Strength and Conditioning Coach at Puyallup High School, where he focuses on developing explosive athletic performance, speed development, discipline, and leadership both on and off the field.

Coaching Philosophy:

Darryl believes speed, strength, and discipline are built through consistency, intent, and attention to detail. His training philosophy centers around developing complete athletes by improving movement efficiency, force production, character, accountability, and competitive mindset. His goal is to help athletes maximize their athletic potential while preparing them for success beyond sports.
